The Demonologist and The Sixth Sense

The main differences between these two works come in the motives of the supernatural beings. As demons in the novel The Demonologist are looking for chaos and destruction by possessing people that would be in contact with David Ullman, or these demons are trying to convince David the existence of them and the action of ghosts in the film The Sixth Sense are looking for help or resolution by showing to Cole Sear different times with no reasons to hurt him. These differences can be shown through the analysis of Dr. Marco Ianno changes, the journey of David Ullman and the relationship between Malcolm Crowe and Cole Sear.
To see how demons are looking for chaos and destruction its well shown through the changes of Dr. Marco Ianno. In the initial meeting between David Ullman and Dr. Marco Ianno in chapter 10 Marco is described as "A new voice, coming from the rear of the hall. Kindly and sympathetic. An accented voice belonging to a man who was advancing with sure purpose and a familiar smile so that, when he finally stood next to me and took me by the elbow, I seemed to have know him all my life" ( Pyper 108). This quote shows how Dr. Marco Ianno was a very professional man, nice and friendly person. However this changes as time goes by and its well shown through David Ullman experience at Santa Croce. David describes Dr. Marco Ianno like " He is soaked through with sweat. His shirt clinging to his back, dark moons under his arms, his breathing. A horse rattle so deep it seem to be drawing air to somewhere other that his lungs" ( Pyper 54). In this quote shows a different Dr. Marco Ianno that's is explained before; he looks devastated a complete transformation showing that demons are looking for chaos and destruction on people. Another way to illustrate how demons are looking for destruction and chaos can be shown through the life of David Ullman. A former teacher highly respected for his work about demons and specialization in John Milton's work's Paradise Lost that had taking him to the Ivy League and conferences around the world.
