Mobility is an event that is perceived by many as beneficial to the accumulation of new relationships, experiences, and opportunities; however, this may not always be the case. In classifying a mobility event as 'beneficial,' a crucial component that must be determined is whether or not it is voluntary or involuntary for the parties involved. Many bodies of power, such as governments working in conjunction with transnational corporations, have forced the movement of individuals from areas that they would have otherwise wished to remain, either for its importance to their culture, community, or to their economic livelihood. One may ask then, what could be the justification for forcing mobility?, as this action, in many cases, has been seen to consequently cause turmoil for the population being forced to move. This paper will argue that a key driver of forced mobility is the increasing desire for energy production and resource extraction, which is propelled by a neoliberal capitalistic market structure, subsequently forcing the mobility of thousands away from their homes, due to their government's economic desire to profit from this increase surpassing their value of the population's wishes. I will demonstrate this argument by using a case example of this type of forced mobility and will also discuss its social and environmental impacts in order to make light of the problems associated. .
