Honor Killings and Discrimination in Africa and UK

Intolerance as stated in the Oxford Dictionary is "unwillingness to accept views, beliefs or behaviour that differ from one's own." Prejudice is feeling or having a negative attitude towards a certain person, group or groups. Prejudice can be towards class, age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicities or stereotypes. Being prejudiced or intolerant is what one may think or feel towards a group whereas discrimination is when one may act upon these feelings, turning thoughts into actions. An example of this is the Steven Preddy and Martyn Hall case. They are an openly gay couple who were denied use of a double room by the hotel's Christian owners. The owners who, due to their religion, are prejudice to same sex couples acted upon their beliefs, disregarding current legislation (Equality Act 2010) making this an illegal act. This is prejudice turned to discrimination.
In Tanzania, albinos are being persecuted and targeted by groups who believe them to be "ghosts." High prices are attached to their flesh and witch doctors make potions with body parts. These potions are believed to bring prosperity and wealth to the user, and other byproducts are used to enrich fishing equipment to bring in a bigger haul. It is also believed that an ill man can cure himself by having sex with a female albino. This is believed to be the cause of the spate of rapes in the albino community. It is reported that over 100 albinos have been attacked since 2006. More than half have died but most were mutilated in some way. The most common mutilation is to cut off their limbs. Because of the ongoing prejudice, albinos tend to keep to themselves, often marrying other albinos which then increases the chance of albino children. This does nothing to relieve the prejudice towards them, and in a way it increase the mysticism around them. People fear what they don't know and are more inclined to believe the myths and dehumanize the albinos because it makes them feel more comfortable.
