The Founding Fathers: A Reform Caucus in Action


            The United States Constitution and The Federalist Papers influenced United States history. Wright Mills and "Pluralist Democracy in the United States by Robert Dahl influenced the United States in some way, shape, or form.
             The Federalist Papers were written in 1787 and 1788 and were published in several newspapers in New York. The purpose of the Federalist Papers was to persuade New Yorkers to vote for the proposed constitution. The Federalist Papers are described as "a collection of essays written in favor of the new constitution." Most people believe that some of the authors include James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. These men were influential in the history of the United States. James Madison was the main author of the Constitution and the fourth president of the United States. Alexander Hamilton was the first U.S Secretary of the Treasury. John Jay was the former president of the Continental Congress and later became the first Chief of Justice of the United States. The Federalist Papers served not only as a way to convince voters to vote for people who would ratify the Constitution but, it also served as a document that explained what the Constitution is. The authors of the Federalist Papers explained that the Constitution was different from other forms of government. The Federalist Papers were not only important in the 1800s, many lawyers, judges and jurors use the Federalist Papers to interpret Constitutional laws.
             Writing the Constitution was not an easy task. People had many different opinions and there were many compromises that had to be made. One of the most famous compromises that helped create the Constitution was the Great Compromise.
