Intimacy and Isolation of College Students

The Psychological Society states that 'Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behavior'. In this essay I will be discussing about intimacy versus isolation of college students, it is the sixth stage of Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development. This stage takes place during young adulthood between the ages of approximately 19 and 40. During this period of time, the major conflict are forming intimate, loving relationships with other people. I have found two good research journal articles for this topic. The first article is about depression, delinquency, and suicidal behaviors among college students and the second one is about the effects of diversity experiences on socially responsible leadership over four years of college. Regarding collegiate experiences, several studies have examined the effects of diversity experiences on educational, psychosocial, and other college outcomes and has also investigated the interaction between delinquency and depression among them and found out that delinquency moderated the relationship between depression and suicidal behaviors. I do believe that every adolescence's bad and good self esteems are based by their experiences from what they have been through and that made who they are in during their college time. .
In addition, adolescence is often considered a time of confusion, rebellion, and problems from whatever reasons. While this can occur, most people emerge from adolescence without any problems and successfully navigate the changes that accompany adolescence. There are a lot of changes that take place during adolescence, but it does not always mean that it is an unpleasant time in the lives of humans. Erik Erikson's previous research was about teenagers that they develop a sense of self and personal identity as they make the transition from childhood to adulthood. The teenagers get confused or insecure about themselves and how they fit in to society as well as they will experience neurological, hormonal, and physical changes.
