Exercise Physiology Report - Mud Running


             What were the short-term physiological changes happening to your body and how did this affect the way you ran?.

             A short-term physiological change that occurred in my circulatory system during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge was increased heart rate This occurred during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge after I was sprinting off the starting line at the tough guy tough gal challenge I felt my heart rate increase because I had been standing still and then suddenly had to run very quickly if I wanted to keep up with my friends. This physiological change occurred because your heart rate increases directly as you increase your exercise performance so by sprinting off the starting line I had already felt my heart rate increase. Your heart has to pump more blood to maintain the supply of oxygen to your working muscles therefore your heart beats more forcefully and quickly so your body can keep on going despite the added physical challenge. The affect this physiological change had on my mud running performance was I needed more oxygen and energy so I could run the tough guy and gal challenge and because my heart rate increased I could now complete the tough guy and gal challenge.
             A short-term physiological change that occurred in my respiratory system during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge was increased breathing rate. This occurred during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge after I was running and then I had to try and get through the really thick mud. This physiological change occurred because I had to suddenly breathe lots more and I needed more oxygen to be able to keep going because my muscles required more oxygen.
