Macbeth - Character Summaries

Macbeth has certain characteristics, which makes him into a tragic hero. His ambition for power is a flaw. Macbeth quickly becomes a villain, after he commits murder and puts his loved ones and his empire in danger. Many of his evils deeds are committed under the influence of his wife Lady Macbeth and the three witches. These four character should be considered the true villain of the play and not Macbeth. Macbeth begins to feel ashamed at the end of the play, because he begins to realize what he has done is wrong. This makes him a tragic hero, because he recognizes his flaws and his mistakes he has committed, however because it is only at the end of the play he realizes this it is too late to make up for this mistake, which makes him a tragic hero. .
             The three witch play a huge role when talking about Macbeth and his decision taking. In the first scene, we are introduced to the three witch. At the end of the scene the witches join together in saying "fair is foul and foul is fair" however, in the next scene Macbeth says "so foul and fair a day I have not seen". This shows that there seems to be a link between them. The link could be compared to the link between Macbeth and evil. .
             The three witches flame up the determent nature of Macbeth. The witches make predictions about him and they address him as the "Thane of Glamis" and the "Thane of Cawdor". They also predict into the future that Macbeth shall be king and ruler of them all. This shows that the three witches have such great influence on him. The idea of Macbeth being king, leads him to wanting to kill the king so he can become ruler. However, the witches never tell Macbeth that he needs to kill the king, he does that on his own. Nevertheless, the witches fuel Macbeth with the idea of him being king which then later on leads to the death of the king. However, Macbeth does not like the idea that he will not be the king himself because Banquo's son will also be king.
