Midsummer Dream Compare and Contrast

Women didn't have any rights to be independent or rights in the Renaissance because the men were in charged. They didn't have the right to be with the one they love, no right to disobey their husband or father, and no freedom to go anywhere. The play A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare describe how unfair women were treated in the Renaissance, but in the movie directed by Adrian Nobel the characteristic of women were still the same, but the actions of the women were not in the Renaissance; they were in modern times. Hermia wasn't afraid to elope with the one she love, and Titania didn't give in to her husband's will; unlike Hippolyta, she agreed to marry to the person she didn't love, and Helena whom begged a guy to give her love. .
Hermia was described as the strong will and independent person. She refused to follow her father and Thesis order and still she has the courage to elope with the person she loves, and yet, she stills follow the rules of Athens for not sleeping with Lysander until she's married. She Quoted. " Lie further off in human modesty. Such separation as may well be said becomes a virtuous bachelor and a maid. So far be distant."" The character tells me that she is determined to be able to be her own person, by not doing what another want you to do even though you love the person a lot. In the movie, it was a bit disappointment to me because the character in the play shows that she is a strong person, but when Lysander had fallen in love with Helena, she begged for Lysander to love her back. Seeing Hermia begged for Lysander dissatisfied me because I don't see the strong person in her anymore, but just like Helena. .
Titania the beautiful queen of fairies plays her role well in the play. She is the strongest women in the play because she is not mortal and doesn't live in Athens, so she doesn't have rules to follow. She had the rights to do what she wanted.
