             Reading in the subject area of math can be difficult for students to .
             Similarly to other subjects, in math, students should have an opportunity to be taught using methods that make the information comprehensible to them. The background and capability of the individual student should be heavily valued when choosing the method of teaching also. After reviewing some articles I have determined that the classroom teacher should have the skills to effectively instruct students how to comprehensively read their texts. This includes making slight accommodations for those students who have a disadvantage due to their background. Reading in mathematics is the bases for understanding what thinks mean and how to use them to compute an answer. Without mastery of reading in math, students would be unable to progress.
             Students who have an extraordinary amount of difficulty are a special circumstance, they require extra help outside the classroom. The majority of students" troubles should be corrected by the classroom instructor. As explained in the article Who should teach reading through the grades? ,by Nola Godinovich, courses focused on reading instruction is required for elementary level teachers, and not those planning on teaching at the high school, or middle school level. Godinovich says this lack of knowledge in this area allows secondary teachers to ignore the problems with reading in their content area. It seems blatantly obvious that this course would be beneficial for teachers to take. In the area of math, reading the definitions of formula, signs, and equations can be very difficult. Students often require a second form of explanation to be able to understand the definitions. .
