Love is still a powerful emotion that over takes the mind and turns Dido and women of today into "love-sick fools.".
Stringer 2.
The next thing that is evident of Dido's love for Aeneas is the way that she justifies everything she does, so that it is right in her eyes. Dido and Aeneas become trapped in a cave in which in their wait perform sexual intercourse. Once the time passes and they are back to the city, Dido begins to think that she and Aeneas are now married. How crazy can someone possibly be? In taking this big step Dido tries to prove to herself that this is real love, because of what they have done. It wasn't real love before, but now that they have committed this act with each other, it has brought them closer then they will ever be or could ever be, therefore it is just like being married. Dido couldn't be more wrong, but couldn't relate anymore to the women or girls of today's society. The female population today looks at sexual intercourse as "real love." Just as Dido thinks that she can't be any closer to Aeneas she is right, which is the same thing that women of today think. Sexual intercourse is a gift and pleasure given by God, but only a gift and right to those who are married. So what better way to justify this than to go around and tell people or think to yourself that you are married to the guy you just had intercourse with? Now women of today do not go around doing that, but that also brings the point of common law marriage. Just because you live with someone for a long period of time, in the eyes of the state you are legally married, therefore intercourse is no longer a sin.or is it? It is very simple the ways that we can find to justify just about anything, back then and even now.
Finally, after seeing the way that love blinds us and the ways that we find to justify it, we look at.
how love can kill us. Dido can not bare the thought of losing Aeneas and after watching his ship set sailshe can't handle the thought of being without him.
