Christian beliefs on abortion and euthanasia.


            Explain the beliefs Christians hold about their responsibility for those at the beginning and end of their lives.
             As Disciples of Christ we believe and follow Christ's beliefs. As Christians we have a responsibility to all Christians from the beginning to the end of our lives. .
             As Christians we look towards the bible and church laws for guidance on abortion and euthanasia. "So God created human beings, making them to be like himself" .
             (Genesis 1: 27).
             The Ten Commandments state "You shall not murder" that suggests abortion and euthanasia is wrong. Genesis 1:26-7(creation) states humans are special and it is not up to us to take away life it is the decision of god our creator.
             One of Jesus" miracles was to cure a paralysed man in Capernaum. Four men carried the paralysed man on a mat to Jesus. Jesus saw the faith the four men had in him. He said, "son your sins are forgiven" to the paralysed man and then asked him to get up off the mat. He was cured. .
             This story relates to the fact that you must believe in God, and healing is possible. It also shows we have a responsibility to help the sick.
             One of the parables in the bible is the Good Samaritan were a man is attacked and near to death when a Samaritan finds him. The crowd is expecting the Samaritan to finish him off because they are such enemies but the Samaritan picks the Jewish man up and takes him to a near by inn were he pays the rent for a week. Why? Well because "who is my neighbour? Any one who is in need, regardless of race, colour, religion, even your enemy!" said the Good Samaritan. The Samaritans good nature is an ensample of how life is important and is not to be taken away prematurely by e.g. attackers. It again shows we all have a responsibility to help those who are in need of care. .
             The Roman Catholic view is that abortion is murder. Roman Catholics believe life begins at conception but the Church of England's view is that " the mother is to be shown compassion, and her feelings and wishes are to be recognised".
