Macbeth


            It is lady Macbeth who must take the blame for the downfall of her husband." This statements is only practically true. Although Lady Maspeth did contribute to Maspeth's downfall it was not solely her fault many others factors also influenced the eventual downfall of Macbeth, apart from his life , including the witches, Macbeth's own ambition and his lack of self control.
             Lady Macbeth was a major contributor to the downfall of her husband.She encouraged him to kill Duncan and manipulate him into doing so. She played on her emotion and due to Macbeth's trust in her, he believed her.She managed to work Macbeth up to help him to do so.Another important thing lady killing Duncan , until then, Macbeth did not believe he could or would of do such thing .When lady Macbeth found out Duncan was coming to Inverness, she said [act 1 sene v verse 162].
             ""Never shall sun that morrow see"" referring to Duncan .This was the first time in this play that the thought of murdering the king was seriously contemplated by Macbeth. Macbeth himself was hoping that he wouldn't have to do anything and that he would become king by the other means , as is evident when he says [act 1 sc 111 11 143-4].
             ""If chance will have me king , why, chance may crown me, without my stir .
             Lady Macbeth also has her own ambition, which flows on to Macbeth. She likes the idea of becoming .
             Queen and therefore encourages Macbeth to make her it. .
             Overall, Lady Macbeth does add to Macbeth downfall however Macbeth should ae thought for himself and not simply listened to his wife.
             As well as Lady Macbeth, the witches also make a significant contribution to the downfall of Macbeth,Their prophecies spark Macbeth's hidden ambition and this brings out the worst in him. They make Macbeth believe that he will be king and this gives Macbeth confidence to kill Duncan .Macbeth also gets caught up in all the superstitions of the witches and he begins to loose all common sense.
