Roots of Modern America from the 1920's


            It is very important to understand how America has developed and what aspects have changed they way we live today. There were many different events from the 1920's that shaped America today. .
             In the 1920's Henry Ford began mass-producing the model T, tractor and Model A. This mass production gave way to a break though and now everything today is mass produced. Assembly lines also took place which increased efficiency in factories and set a standard among factories. Today in some factories we still use this same method. Also electricity for homes was manufactured in the 1920's. This paved the way for comfortable living in America. The electricity powered washing machines, vacuums, refrigerators and ranges. Radio broadcasting and movies also sky rocketed in the 1920's. Today this market has taked over Hollywood and are multi million dollar productions. Owning stocks became popular in the 1920's as is still today. Everyone wanted to make it big. Mergers took place uniting business to become more economically efficient. Mergers take place all the time, such as my cable company merged with grande and clearsource. Advertising also grew in the 1920's to increase corporate revenue. Advertising today has reached everywhere and everything. Uniformity and satandardation took place making a uniform America which threatened different cultures in the U.S. Everyone today basically has one culture. Skyscrapers and tall buildings were coming up in America in the 1920's. Today tall buildings are a basis for business. Women started taking on new jobs. Now women are boss's and hold high positions in many businesses today. Birth control was developed limiting the number of offspring. Today birth control is the number one method other than abstanence. Sports began to boom with Babe Ruth and golf. Today that is all the guys seem to talk about is sports. Games and sports were a big hit in the 1920's with bicylcling , swimming, and others.
