Soft Skills are Valued Necessities


            
             Organizations have guidelines on skills that they need their employees to have. There are many organizations where the needs and desires strongly focus on the people skills that the employees have and how they use that skill to lead the organization to success. Some organizations would consider soft skills or "touchy feely" skills as ones that they do not require and their approach winds up having an organization that does not utilize people skills with their external and internal customers. These soft skills are a new wave in the future and many companies are looking for people who have the ability to communicate with others thorough ideas, solve problems creatively, relate to customers and are team oriented. These skills are required in any organization to have a successful and leading company.
             Managers are the main points of contacts that influence current staff to be motivated and focus on the mission of the organization. If a manager cannot communicate effectively with the employees then how can he/she motivate the employees to perform better? If managers take "in addition to the traditional prerogative to manage performance and behavior, culture change initiatives presume that the management of employees" attitudes, beliefs, and understandings is a proper concern of management" that also needs to be addressed (Nic 210). The main person who is in complete control, management, should also be training his/her subordinates to step into his/her role one day and therefore all of the employees should have techniques in addressing attitudes, beliefs and personal understandings of all employees. One way to work on motivating staff and utilizing people skills, trust needs to be developed.
             Trust is "a positive expectation that another will not - through words, actions or decisions - act opportunistically" (Robbins 237). Many employees do not trust other employees nor do they confide into management any issues or concerns that they may have until a relationship has been developed and trust has grown.
