I never thought that one place could make someone feel so vibrant and alive. This place that I am describing was only introduced to me this past summer and I already have a close attachment to it. It brought out my true personality and taught me life altering lessons. It introduced me to a very diverse set of people and it taught me more about myself, and who I want to become. Whoever thought that one simple place could change your life forever? This truly beautiful and peaceful place that did change my life and the way I look at things, is a childrens= Christian camp called Camp Simpresca and this is my favourite place to be.
Every fall for the past seven years, my best friend Sarah would come back to school with many stories of her summer adventures at camp. I was more than envious of her and I wanted to experience these things for myself. Then this past June, Sarah came and told me about an opening for a job at Camp Simpresca, knowing that I want to pursue a job with children in my future. That night I filled out an application off the Internet and sent it right away. It was only a couple days until I had an interview on the phone with the camp director. After she told me I got the job a few days later, it would only be two weeks until I would be arriving at camp and that would be my home for the rest of the summer.

The first two weeks of training at camp were hard on me trying to get used to the camp atmosphere and being away from my family and friends. It was definitely a new environment and situation than the one that I was used to. It took me a few days to be able to act totally like myself, which is not quiet and shy, and that it is how I appeared to be acting at first. Once I realized it was acceptable to be myself and let my fears go, then that is when I realized what camp actually does to a person, and who it helps you become. It made me realize that people do accept me for the person I am and that is the person who they want to be around.
