Great emphasis is placed on traceability systems for all product ingredients to enable controls to be exercised over every link in the supply chain.
             It is McDonald's preference wherever possible to purchase from suppliers in the UK. Suppliers are monitored in terms of their environmental policies and the Company only buys from suppliers who operate responsibly in accordance with Government and EU regulations and guidelines.
             McDonald's develops long-term relationships with key suppliers so they know exactly where their food comes from and how it has been prepared. They also have a team of experts who work with their suppliers and restaurants to ensure that their stringent specifications for quality, hygiene and food safety are maintained at every stage.
             With all of the technology being developed now a day's the computer and the internet have revolutionized the way in which we live our lives. McDonalds has used information technology in a number of ways to enhance their company. They way in which McDonalds has used information technology for control is by placing a lot of their important information on their web site instead of in their stores. Instead of putting information such as the calories and fat content of their food on the food they put it on their web site. If you want to see exactly what you are eating you can go there and you can see. By doing this McDonalds is controlling what you see. If you don't see that eating one of their cheeseburgers which contains 500 calories and 10 grams of saturated fat then you won't think twice about eating it. They might know what is in all these meals but if McDonalds doesn't broadcast it all over their store then you just become absent minded to the real facts and order whatever.
