Catcher in the rye ban


            D Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye" should not be banned at all anywhere in the United States. The book's ideas relate to the majority of teenagers throughout the country. Many say because of the book's profanity and teenage sexual relations, that it is a bad influence on many young adults. However, many teenagers have the same feelings as Holden towards many aspects of life. .
             Of course many teenagers don't wander the streets of New York City calling and meeting up with random old friends and most teenagers certainly don't fail out of four different high schools. But Holden's reactions and feelings can certainly relate to many young adults. There is no reason why this novel should be banned in any high school in any part of the world. Many books written by famous authors have profanity in them and sexual content. But those books aren't recognized as a rude and cruel book like this one. The words of a novel are only written to fit that certain novel's plot and ideas. If teenagers relate to this book more than adults do, why should it be banned in different high schools? The book certainly does show a bad example for the youngsters who read it. Not one person who reads it will change their life because of this book. The book is only read to entertain and no for other purpose. There is no form of treason or racism or any types of bias comments. There is nothing illegal stated in the book. Therefore, there is reason why the book should be banned at all. .
             In conclusion, this book should not be banned or outlawed anywhere. There is no reason why it should be. It does not set a bad example for any person who reads it. Holden expresses his ideas the way he wants to and the ideas he expresses don't have any influence on the people who read about them. The book's ideas relate to many teenagers throughout America. This book should be able to be read in places including high schools.
