Emerson Interpreted

Through inspiring words in life we can learn a lot. As with Emerson, he had a great impact on lives and society. Aphorisms are somewhat valuable to our society. They tell of truths and maybe a little advice. There are many that are important, two of which I picked because they take personal meaning in my life. In the following I will be discussing the role of an aphorism plays in my life, and their importance.
In the aphorism "be yourself, don't imitate," this basically means that you should be pure as yourself, and doesn't copy or follow, but stand tall and be your own person. I believe that this relates to me because I always try to be my own person, and I don't try to mock people, because I"m simply my own person. Times when I portray this statement quite well is when I wear me own style of clothing. Theses explain me; weather they are popular, unpopular, original, or unique. Each of them says something about me. I don't try to imitate anyone else, I go for pleasing myself, and to me that would mean just being myself. .
Another aphorism I selected is "you are your own authority." This to me means that I make my own decisions, of failure or success. It's basically up to me to decide where I"m going in life and to shape the future I will live in. Also self-discipline is part of my authority to reach success. This statement does not necessarily mean I am my own power, but it does apply that I have only control over myself and the decisions I make, good or bad. This can mean that I rely on myself a lot to pull through and get things done. Many times I can portray my own authority. When I do my homework, or write an essay I sometimes have a lack of authority. I am my own authority. I use my authority to complete my homework, study and make decisions. My power of authority over myself enables me to have self-discipline. .
Concluding on my thoughts, and reflecting on both of these aphorisms, I believe that they are solely important and true to life.
