Mechanics of an Impact Gun

People see mechanics use impact guns almost every time they have to have their car worked on. Since the invention of the impact gun, it has greatly increased the turn around rate for which cars can be serviced due to its ability to tighten and loosen bolts and nuts very easily and quickly. There are six basic parts of an impact gun: the handles, body, air nipple, anvil, trigger, and forward and reverse buttons. .
             Description of Parts:.
The Handle: The handle is where the impact gun is held while in use. The handle helps to control the gun and keep it steady when placing or removing nuts. Some more powerful impact guns come with two handles. This extra handle is usually mounted to the top of the gun extending to the left or right to be held with another hand. This helps to better hold and control heavier and more powerful impact guns.
The Nipple: The air nipple is located on bottom of the handle. This is where the air compressor hose is connected, allowing compressed air in to act as fuel. There are about four different size nipples for impact guns that vary according to how much power and air the impact gun requires.
The Trigger: On the handle lies the trigger. The trigger is operated simply by the slight pressure of one's index finger. When pressed, the trigger opens to release compressed air. This is how to start and stop the impact gun applying and relieving pressure.
The Body: The main part of the impact gun is the body. This is what protects the inside from dirt and other debris. The body either comes in a composite plastic or a steel body. Both of these are very strong and will not break if accidentally dropped and can take some harsh punishment. The composite plastic is about two pounds lighter that the five-pound steel body.
Forward and Reverse Buttons: On the back of the impact gun body is the forward and reverse buttons. These buttons make the impact gun go forwards to tighten and backwards to loosen nuts and bolts.
