Discrimination/Alienation

Have you ever alienated someone or discriminated against someone for the way he or she looked? How do you think he or she felt? Would you behave differently now that you have matured? .
Yes I am guilty of such misconduct. I think that everyone, over the course of their life, has discriminated or, made fun of someone for the foolish reason, that we don't like the way they look. I remember in grade seven and eight my friend and I decided to give one girl a nickname that wasn't very nice. The girl was younger then us and she just moved to our school. So my friend and I saw her a few times, but she looked different and we couldn't put our fingers on what it was that made her look different. So one day we saw her in the hall and we said hi to her and got a really good look at her. Then it hit us the reason she looked different was because she had a really big nose. So ever since then we called her shnose. We never said it to her face, but we joked about it and kind of behind her back. Another time in grade five I had just moved to Christ the King and back then pokemon cards were the coolest thing since sliced bread and I had a bunch. I had brought them to school to show my friends so I left them in my locker and went out side for recess. When I came back all of my good ones were gone and this guy had just acquired all the ones I had missing. So I asked him whether or no he had taken them and he said he didn't. So from then on I never talked to the boy again and I always made fun of him. In this particular incident I wasn't making fun of the person because of their appearance but there was just some bad blood between us. I think that when I make fun of people they feel awful about themselves and especially if they look up to me or want to become friends with me. Now that I have matured a little I don't think that I would have acted in such a foul manner I wouldn't call people names behind their backs and I would try to reconcile with the boy who was dishonest with me.
