Egalitarian Spirit

            Egalitarian spirit could be seen in the creation of the thirteen-state government. All peoples wanted to be equally treated although many were never done so. Many men and women were demanding to be addressed as "Mr." or "Mrs.". Slaves were also treated unfair pre and post Revolutionary War. Although women didn't play a crucial role in the Revolutionary war led to some to believe that they should not be given certain rights. These will all change as government starts to take its place in the thirteen colonies. .
             Hierarchy classes were dominant before the Revolutionary War. When the lower class peoples saw themselves fighting next to the higher ups it made them start to feel as if they were beginning to be on the same level as they were. Meaning the gaps in the power structure were closing slowly. They wanted to be addressed in the same way like such people as Sam Adams or John Hancock would be addressed. Even though they didn't have the land or the intelligence to back them up they felt that if they fought in the war side by side they should get the same recognition. .
             Persecution against slaves continued on through out the Revolutionary War but in 1775 the Philadelphia Quakers decided this persecution of innocent people should be no longer. The Philadelphia Quakers established the first antislavery society, which started giving black slaves a chance at freedom. Although African-American slaves were given their freedom from their masters in some states they were harshly discriminated against. This left them having a hard time purchasing property to educating their children. .
             Women were an essential part of running a household. Women did not play a crucial role in the Revolutionary War although some were disguised as men and fought. "Republican Motherhood" took place when the mothers were seen as a model of proper republican poise. After "Republican Motherhood" was established educational opportunities for women were expanded so that they could mold the integrity of their family.
