Mt. Kilimanjaro

It has been brought to my attention that the world's environment is changing drastically. This drastic change may be a result of many occurrences within our environment, but may have also occurred because of mankind's greed for survival. One catastrophic event mankind has helped increase, through out earth, is global warming. This process has significantly increased due to air pollutants we let off each and everyday. This might be the scientific reason why Mt. Kilimanjaro's ice caps are melting. I believe that this event should be studied in great detail to find out the main reason why the ice caps are melting, rather than covering up the problem with a huge blanket. .
The idea of using a several mile long blanket to cover the mountain so sunlight can reflect off the ice caps is absurd. The event of the melting ice caps, which may have occurred from human interference, is a natural process that should be left alone and not be interfered with. This event, if left alone, may answer a lot of questions and benefit humans. One question that might be answered is the question dealing with the relationship of global warming and the melting ice caps of Mt. Kilimanjaro. If global warming is the reason for the melting, this event can be a lesson to many of us that a change is needed. Sometimes it takes a terrible event to make us open our eyes. .
Mt. Kilimanjaro's melting ice caps may also benefit the people who live near the mountain. These melting ice caps may flood streams and rivers delivering a plentiful supply of fresh water into the villages near the mountain. This water may be used for both drinking and farming, rather than using limited water resources that have caused great blood shed. Even if Mt. Kilimanjaro were to be covered with a huge blanket, the process may still undergo with an even faster rate of melting. The reason for this is because eventually the blanket will begin to loose its bright white color and will then absorbed sunlight rather than reflecting it.
