Why my Father Hates Computers

The employees of my fathers department were temporarily out of work and were not compensated for this unexpected vacation. This infuriated my father because he was not told ahead of time about the change and he had no time to prepare for it. Eventually, he was called back into work where he was faced with a new challenge. .
With no former computer training, my father was confused about the new computer system and he was forced to try to teach himself how to operate these new machines. He didn't feel that the new monitors measured up to the old dials that he was used to. It took him a few months to feel comfortable with the new method. This was very frustrating to him and he felt like he was too old to learn about computers. Once again computers had ruled over an aspect of his job.
A few years later there was a computer explosion. In 1996 the Internet and e-mail were new and very popular. E-mail drastically dropped the use of paper in the world. The company my father worked for was in the paper industry and the entire paper market took a serious blow with as a result. This forced the company to have a series of lay-offs. This did not directly affect my father's job because he had a great deal of seniority in his company, although, these lay-offs did affect some of his friends and co-workers employment. This made my father nervous because was always wondering if he would be the next one without a job. In my fathers perspective, the computer had once again hurt hard working citizens.
My father continued to work and computers did not affect him again until the year 2003. The company that my father was working for sold the complex that he was associated with and a new corporation was working on modernizing it. This was the year when my father's abhorrence for computers climaxed. During mid February he was called into a department meeting with an executive from his company. He knew that this was serious because this director was rushed in from out of town to speak to the men in my father's department.
