A League of Their Own

            
            
             For my book report this quarter, I chose the movie A League of Their Own. This movie has a lot of characters but the one that stands out the most to me is Dottie Hinson. She was a kind-hearted person that always cared about other people. Dottie always made the right choices and was a good leader for her team.
             Dottie Hinson was the starting catcher for the Rockford Peaches. She was an amazing ball player. Not only was she a catcher but she could really nail the ball. Ernie Gabindino was given the credit for discovering her talents during a small hometown women's baseball game. Dottie refused the invitation to try out even after she was offered $75.00 a week. At that time Dottie who was working in a dairy farm was only making $35.00 per week. The recruiter then spoke with Kit, Dottie's younger sister, who he really did not want. He told her if she could convince Dottie to come for the tryouts that she was welcome to come along too. Dottie who was married and her husband was away fighting the war finally agreed to go. After tryouts the Rockford Peaches drafted both Dottie and Kit. The League was not doing well and so Dottie and some of the other girls started doing publicity stunts to bring in more fans and increase revenues. After not to long the stands were full and the League was a success. The Peaches were headed in the right direction and everything was going great until the coach questioned Dottie about Kit's arm during a game. Dottie told the truth and Kit was pulled before the end of the game. This caused a major riff between the sisters and Dottie was going to quit and go home. Mr. Lowenstein did not want this. Kit was then traded to the Racine Belles and a feud began. Both the Rockford Peaches and the Racine Belles made it to the World Series. The series was all tied up at three games apiece and the score was 1- 0 Racine when Kit had to pitch to Dottie. There were runners on first and second.
