The movie Never Cry Wolf was a very interesting movie about Farley Mowatt who was acted by Charles Smith who, for some odd reason is named Tyler.
This stories" setting is 600 miles North of Churchill, Manitoba in a place in the Artic Circle called the Keewatin Barrens. There, he must set up Lupus (meaning wolf) base one. The movies time setting is in the 1950's.
I thought the storyline was pretty good and moved along very well, I also believed the story was true until I found out otherwise, because our teacher told us the whole time he was up there in the Artic he stayed in a Bar and drank. He completely lied about everything. I felt that the original Mowatt was trying to fool you and that sort of disappoints me.
The movie itself was quite well done. I liked the photography, especially of the various Artic wildlife. The portrayal of the wolves he was investigating was very well done.
I think that the best looking scene, picture wise was when Tyler fell through the ice while trekking through out the wilderness. The screen shots were very interesting.
The sound of this movie would have been great if we watched it on a good T.V. which we did not have the pleasure of doing. Once the movie got 35 minutes or so in, Tyler was the only human being in the movie, so spoken dialogue was very scarce except for his journal entries. Because of this good sound effects were a must for this movie.
In conclusion this movie was overall very well done, even though it was supposed to be based on a true story that was really a sham. .
