They cried, "All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter- (Mac.1.3.50). Macbeth thought that it is impossible to become a king when the King is alive. A thought encroached into his mind and said, "if chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me, without my stir- (Mac.1.3.143-144). Thus, he goes to his wife Lady Macbeth and she tells him that he can kill King Duncan and by that he will be the King. Macbeth thought that this is an evil idea and says to her that if fate wants him to become a King then he will be in the future. He goes slightly ambitious to become a King, but not by murdering. .
The three witches caused to encourage Macbeth's ambition in the first place to become the king. Lady Macbeth is the second main cause that helped Macbeth's ambition to grow. Macbeth wasn't still evoked by his ambition to kill and become the King. Lady Macbeth starts to insult his manhood and names him a coward just to encourage him to kill King Duncan by saying, "Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem'st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem- (Mac.1.7.41-43). He answers her back by saying, "I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none- (Mac.1.7.46-47). Lady Macbeth is so ambitious to have her husband become the King and by that she will be the queen. Her evil ambition makes her call upon the forces of darkness to support her in her purposes:.
Come you spirits .
And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full.
Of direst cruelty! Make thick my blood,.
Stop up th' access and passage to remorse. (Mac.1.5.39-43).
Lady Macbeth is the evil and cruel power that caused Macbeth to kill the King so that he takes his place.
Rephrasing what Charles Boyce says, "that Macbeths ambition his evil ambitious wife Lady Macbeth, and the three witches' mystical powers helped Macbeth to achieve his goal, but certainly in actual brought to him his downfall- (386). Macbeth achieved his goal and became the King by the help of his wicked wife that arranged for him the plan on killing King Duncan.
