             Vincent Millay: Controversial Writer and Inspiration.
             Vincent Millay was a poet and playwright. She was famous for writing controversial descriptions of female sexuality and feminism. Her struggle in the literary world did not go unnoticed. While many female authors were not acknowledged, Millay became very skilled at writing to appease to editors who would read and publish her works.
             Millay was openly bisexual. Her sexual freedom allowed her to write from a totally different point of view. A view that's was considered by many to be lewd, offensive and even immoral. Such prejudice allowed her to be an even greater writer.
             Today Edna St. Vincent Millay is considered one of the most talented writers in the literary genre. Some of her themes included nature, romantic love, impermanence and death. Edna's style focused more on overt feeling than on intellectualization. It is also characterized by forthrightness of expression, clarity of diction, ad avoidance of ambiguity.
             St. Vincent Millay is a controversial writer because her works raise questions like, is the way she write the way she lived? And did her sexuality influence her views as a writer, and the views of people around her? These questions and many others were hard to answer because of her style.
             Other major themes included her interest in heterosexual relationships as in An Ancient Gesture or disaffected lovers as in The Spring and the Fall. Her detailed perception of certain themes allowed her to write extensive sonnets such as Fatal Interview, a fifty two-page sonnet that dealt with the course of a love affair from beginning to end.
             Millay also wrote about integrity of an individual. A theme that truly focused on trades or sacrifices individuals make to gain somewhat meaningless things. In other words selling their soul to the devil.
             While Millay is refered to as old-fashioned her style is still very unique compared to other authors of her time.
