DeathWatch Chpts 1-2-3

             1) The two main characters in the novel, Deathwatch are Madec, the very successful, wealthy Los Angeles business man who is a very cold and unfeeling man. With his trigger-happy tendencies, he is deadly threat too all. And Ben, the young college student who grew up near the desert and provides hunting guides in the desert to earn a little extra money. Madec is the antagonist in the story and Ben is the protagonist. .
The two men are in the desert because Madec, being a true cold-blooded killer at heart, wants to go on a hunting trip in the desert for Big-Horn Sheep and place his kill's head in his office for show. So, Madec hires Ben as a guide for his trip and the two set out on their journey. When the reader enters the story for the first time, the two are about to receive their first kill .
             2) The initial argument of the tow main character, Madec and Ben, on the first page of the novel, is weather or not the thing that Madec sees thru the scope of his weapon is or is not a Big- Horn Sheep. Ben, not being and crazed killer like Madec disagrees with Madec, reassuring him that it is not a Big- Horned Sheep. Madec however, could care less what Ben thought, he wanted his kill and he wanted it then. .
             3) When the differences are revealed on the second page, the most easily noticed one is the personality of Madec and Ben. Ben still growing up and not even being a man yet does enjoy hunting but not at the level that Madec does. Madec hunts to kill, to feel the pleasure of knowing that you have just ended something's life that the result of someone or something living another second relies on you, and for sport. Madec does not hunt for food, shelter, or needs, he hunts for show. Ben hunts for food, shelter, and needs. .
Ben also feels bad about his kill and does not fire a single shot until he is 110% positive of what he is shooting at. For instance, when Madec thinks that he is about to shoot a Big-Horn, but it turns out to be a man, Ben told Madec not to do it because they were not a 110% assure that they were about to hit a Big-Horn.
