It was written by William Shakespere although some argue it was never he who wrote the stories, but 2 other play writes that he knew, however many dont look into it.
I the beginning there is a love triangle, Hermia loves Lysander who loves her as well, and Helena loves Demetrius (whom she was once engaged to) but he too loves Hermia, leaving one girl with too many, and one with few. .
There is no protagonist in the play, but if there was to be one, it would probably be Puck. Oberon(King of the faries) told Puck to put the juice of a flower on the Athenian Boy, so he would fall in love with Helena. However Puck gets confused and puts a spell on Lysander, thinking he was Demetrius. In doing so the mishap happens where when he tried to correct the problem, both Lysander and Demetrius end up in love with Helena. Who thinks the two are mocking her. .
The 2 men prepare to battle for the love of Helena when Puck brings them into the woods and mimmiks their voices, bringing them apart. When they sleep Puck corrects the spell. Restoring Lysander's love to Hermia, and Demetrius and Helena are left alone in love.
When they awaken all is forgiven and forgotten. The three couples(including Theseus and Hippolyta) are married and see the play of Piramus and Thisbe (Starring Bottom who had his head turned into that of an ass by Puck, but is restored by Oberon once Titania(Queen of Faries) gives him the indian boy for a knight) .
At the end, all is happy, and all couples are blessed at the end by faries when they arrive to bed.
