Anti-Terrorism Security Response

In light of the events of September 11, 2001, current security measures are a topic of great debate. Some of the current suggestions under consideration are far reaching and many are described as Big Brother invading our lives. Security is not only a national concern, but an international one. However, an effectively implemented plausible plan for guarding a country's citizens still has yet to be. That is until now. This plan called Worldwide Identifications for Everybody or WIDE, will discuss how one simple change in the form of identification can answer the world's changing need of security.
While technology has rapidly advanced, the form of identification currently used by most countries has not. This has rendered these forms of ID ineffective and easy to exploit. Many features could be incorporated into current driver's licenses and state issued ID cards, passports could be revamped, and National ID cards could be issued, but the expense to implement such changes is staggering. In order to find the solution to a complex problem, sometimes it is best to heed the old adage less is more. WIDE introduces a sweeping change of three current forms of identification, the driver's license, state issued ID cards, and passports. The responsibility of implementing WIDE will be that of the United Nations. The costs incurred will be divided proportionately to the number of citizens per country involved in WIDE. Those countries too poor to be involved in WIDE will have their operational and setup costs divided proportionately among the developed nations involved. The citizens of countries, who are not involved, by a matter of choice, will not be allowed to cross the borders of countries involving themselves in WIDE.
To complete a task such as this, the entire process of identification must be revisited. Instead of issuing passports, driver's licenses, and state or national ID cards, WIDE will incorporate this information into a single form of theft proof identification.
