Joan Of Arc: One Courageous Woman

But she was an incredibly strong-willed girl with a persuasive personality. (Welden 12).
Joan managed to convince the French authorities of her mission and was put in charge of an army. She took grate care in the spiritual preparation of the army. Joan was firmly committed to the old rules of chivalry, which restricted the time within which warfare was allowed, imposing a truce on Sunday's and feast days. Her courage was a blazing inspiration and the soldiers accepted her with little complaint (Krull 20). Joan set off for Rheims, defeating the English in many battles along the way and freeing all the French towns between Orléans and Rheimis. The next part of Joan's mission was to have the Dauphin crowned king. On May 9, the day after the siege of Orléans, Joan Count Dunois and an army contingent went to report to the Dauphin. At this moment of Joan's great glory the people of Reims went wild demonstrating their gratitude. On January 19, she was invited to a banquet by city council of Orléans. But Joan's glory wouldn't last long. .
It was later told that Joan would soon be captured. After this had been revealed, she had left military matters mostly to other captains of war. In 1430, Joan tried to protect France from yet another threat: an attack by the Burgundians. She fought bravely but was captured. The Burgundians sold her to the bitter English. (Welden 13). The English became fearful of Joan's power and influence over the people of France, so they sentenced her to death without a fair trial. They imprisoned her in the tower of the keep of Beaurevoir. After her capture she began to think of trying to leap from the tower even though the "voices- tried to restrain her. (Brooks 108). She ignored the voices and later leaped from the tower. It was thought that she may be dead but she was only unconscious. In December, a few days before Christmas and seven months after her capture, her days of kindly treatment were over.
