Teaching techniques of Jesus

Jesus used many teaching techniques when dealing with the varying people that he encountered. He realized that not all people would react to the same type of message so he used various forms to try and convey his message of peace, hope, and love. He also knew what techniques would be more effective for the differing groups and would chose those over others. These same techniques that Jesus used when dealing with the people of Judah can be modified and used today in classrooms across the world. This essay examines the different techniques and how they can be adapted and used in modern classrooms.
One of the main techniques of teaching that Jesus used was an opener. Jesus realized that you could not just start to teach or preach to someone and hope that they will concentrate and get the full message of what you want to present. He concluded therefore that you need some type of opener or attention grabber to get the people to be able to understand what you have to present. This technique applies and has relevance today as much as it did many centuries ago. An effective teacher will have bell ringers or other questions on the board before class actually starts. These questions can be on the lesson covered the previous day and serve as a review or they can be questions about a lesson that they were to read for homework the night before. The bell ringers allow the students to begin class on time and begin to think about the topic at hand while the teacher performs the various administrative jobs that must be done very period. Openers can also serve as the beginning of the lesson, where the teacher performs some act to try and get the students attention; this could be popping a balloon in science class.
Another technique that Jesus used was the rhetorical question. This caused the person to think about their question and answer it the way that they felt was correct. Jesus used the questions as an instrument to incite thought.
