Martin Heidegger

Martin Heidegger is said to be one of the most inspirational and significant philosophers in the twentieth century. His most famous work as Being and Time. He also wrote An Introduction to Metaphysics, Poetry, Language, Thought, and On the Way to Language. These pieces inspired many other philosophers thinking and writings. .
In his piece, Being and Time, he said that the Western World was "a flight from thinking." He thought that the true meanings for being have either disappeared or changed so much that they are no longer true. He also had these same feeling for many other subjects such as truth, and faith. This piece was supposed to have two views, one was through an analysis of the human race so that a new understanding of time, truth, and faith. The other was through a view of "overcoming" of the earlier philosophy so that new ideas approaches and beliefs could come forth. Because of this book many people thought that Heidegger was "an existentialist concerned primarily with human beings rather than with being." So he argued that humans have a vague prejudice understanding of why they are where they are. He also believed that one was placed on this earth before they could distinguish between other objects or other human beings. .
Later in his life he began to believe that the perspective of this piece was not radical enough. He thought that it had way too much recent philosophy and not enough of the old and how the old philosophy came to inspire the new. He was also very dissatisfied with the traditional abilities to describe the thought process and beliefs of being. He also came to believe that the questions you ask and how you got those certain questions are way more important than the answers that each person can come up with to answer your specific questions.
Heidegger was a prime example of how philosophy changes so often, even within the own philosophers mind. There are many things that a philosopher believes in and tries to tie his philosophy to, and when one perception of what that means changes, then everything is free game to change.
