Second Hand Smoking


            Second- Hand Smoke is not just annoying; it is dangerous. Lung Cancer isn't the only deadly effect of Second-Hand Smoke. The American Heart Association estimates 40,000 die each year from heart and blood vessel disease caused by second-hand smoke. Environmental Protection agency is responsible for about 3,000 lung cancer deaths each year among non-smokers in the U.S. .
             We've Seen why kids are attracted to trying cigarettes in the first place and how they get hooked on nicotine. Typically, this is how the habit starts. The preparatory stage, This is the stage where the child is learning about smoking and is influenced by advertising. Next is the "Trying Stage-. The greater the availability of cigarettes, the number of friends who smoke, and the stronger perception that smoking is an acceptable and common behavior. Experimental Stage comes along and its usually when the habit starts. It starts going to regular use and they start smoking more often and getting even more addicted. Addiction starts and they are now dependent smokers. The child has developed a physiological need for nicotine in cigarettes to satisfy their need. .
             A mixture of the smoke is given off by the burning end of a cigarette, cigar, or pipe and the smoke exhaled from the lungs of smokers. This mixture contains more than 4,000 substances, more than 40 of which are known to cause cancer in humans or animals. The high amount of available second-hand smoke, also as "passive smoke- is a huge health risk. In non-smokers, passive smoking is estimated by the environmental protection agency (EPA) to cause approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths in non-smokers each year.
             The dangers of second-hand smoke are a result of the chemicals made up of smoke products, which are such as, Benzene, Formaldehyde. Ammonia, Acetone, Arsenic, Hydrogen Cyanide, and the main addiction, which is Nicotine. They are all colorless chemicals, which are all definitely deadly.
