Memoirs

They explained they had a bad feeling about this person, and that they would at least like to see me associate less with this person.
Just how much less became problematic. It seemed like every time I sought for permission to go to his house, or to go anywhere where he would be present, the answer was either a "no" or it took persuasion and leverage to convince them to allow me to basically see this person. It was not long before we would be looking for each other's things in our own houses, and use the fact that they had to be returned to the owner as an excuse to see each other for a maximum of half and hour.
On one of these particular nights where an exchange was to be made, the friend had called me up at 9:15. I scrambled around and found some boxers of his. It was particularly important that night, because I had had something on my mind. So, I went out and found my parents together in the living room, watching TV. I asked if I could go to his house quickly to return some items of his. We had what seemed like a twenty-minute discussion over the subject, which was really only about five minutes. The conditions were clear: I was being allowed to drop some items off, and would return home immediately.
Well, I went on my way, of course knowing in my head the whole time I wasn't going to be returning right away. I arrived and walked in. We started discussing what was on my mind, as my friend had been with me step by step through the situation now troubling me. It came 10:00, and that was half an hour longer than I had been allotted to have gone to his house and come back. Oh man. .
I called my parents and explained to them that the reason I had stayed was because I was getting some feelings sorted out, and was getting some sound advice from his sister on what needed to be done. They understood enough to let me stay until 11:00 PM at the very latest. Happy with this relaxation of the rules (and probably too much so, as now I figured I could keep bending the rules since they understood that I had a problem that needed rendering), I stayed and chatted until 10:45, knowing now it was going to be time to go.
