english 101 - Of Motors and Men

When mothers hear the roar of a Harley Davidson they think one word, abduction. A shriek lets out and they sprint to drag their stunned children out of the quiet street. Nearby, fathers lazily trimming shrubbery, perk up, and long for a glance at one of the most coveted man machines. In attempt to avoid direct eye contact, they lust quickly as death rumbles by. These guards of Hell have made quite a name for themselves, unfortunately the name is not a good one. .
The typical Harley rider mainly consists of, but not limited to, tattoo artists, junk yard or chop shop owners, and sets of rough looking females. You can tell an authentic rider by the long, scraggly salt and pepper hair, which may or may not have gone months since last shampooed. The lovely locks only covered by a sweat stained skull bandana. Veteran riders never wear helmets unless it contributes to their appearance. A well worn leather vest is sprinkled with patches, giving indication as to which group they belong to, and envelops a red t-shirt sporting the confederate flag. Black matching chaps cover jeans that can no doubt stand on their own. Most wear brand name sunglasses, but only for durability purposes. Any visible logos are scratched off by the nine inch blade strapped to one leg. The most popular accessories of these motor muscles include; belly smothered chain belts, dangling cross earrings, spiked bracelets, lethal spurs, and the in-famous "Mother" tattoo. Most always boots are preferred over shoes; black of course, square toed to prevent operation errors while shifting or braking. Safety is not a concern to these adrenaline junkies, so hardly any gear is worn for protecting purposes, only for show.
Traveling in groups, these men of mystery wander from place to place supposedly killing mercilessly. In the movie Mad Max, motorcycle gangs single out the common traveling family, and kill the husband while ravaging the wife.
