Confusion reigns in workplace fashion

This article has to do with the confusion that people have with dress code standards currently in the workplace. This article starts out talking about how roughly two thirds of Americans "are uncertain about the difference among business attire, business casual, and casual dress in the workplace.
Dennis Tootelian, a marketing professor from California State University, did a survey of 500 people to conclude his theory of that a large amount of people have felt inappropriately dressed in the workplace. According to his survey "sixty two percent of the 500 surveyed said that they had been inappropriately dressed at a business or social function". Surprisingly, the percentage of men who felt they were inappropriately dressed was 64% compared to the women's 61%. .
Tootelian believes that the biggest problem today involving the dress code in the business world is the idea of "business casual". The idea of exactly what attire is included in this spectrum is too large to identify.
Another interesting fact found in Tootelian's study was that the differences in employees" generations does have some effect on the opinions of what is appropriate to wear in the workplace. Americans that are younger seem to dress on the much more casual side of "business casual" believing that they are in fact dressing appropriately.
To conclude the article the author makes the point that those who do not dress appropriately for work will not get far in the business world. However, he does not expect Americans idea of what is appropriate dress for work will become clearer anytime soon.
