Da shedmen

When growing up in a city, you don't really get to experience the closeness as if you've grown up in a smaller town or bay. It seems to me that those who have grown up in these bays and towns know more about their community's local folklore, when it comes to nicknames of certain places, people, and traditions. When I meet people with these types of backgrounds, they always have a few stories to tell about were there from. When I think of were I was raised, Mt. Pearl I can't seem to remember any nicknames with regards to local hang outs, riffraff's or community traditions. But I have experienced a few good nicknames through friends and family, here are a some dating back as far as elementary school and as recent as a year or two ago.
             Da Shedmen.
I am part of a group, that some refer to as "Da Shedmen" the group consists of four people, Bulls Eye Barns (me), Fat Fingers Farrell (Mike Farrell), Hussey Gussey (Blair Dune), and Doubles Duggan (Mike Duggan). A few winters back the four of us were finding ourselves very bored on the weekends, so one Saturday night we decided to dig out the shed in my backyard, throw a load of wood in the fireplace, play some darts, watch the hockey game, and have a few beers. We enjoyed ourselves probably too much and it became a regular thing to do every Saturday night and frequently both nights of the weekend. After becoming almost hermits to our other friends, from being in the shed every weekend for about two or three months straight, we skipped darts one night to go to a party. When the four of us entered the house one of our buddies (Francis Mooney) says "o my god, look by's Da Shedmen are out". Ever since then when the four of us are out at a party or someone mentions one of our names, we are refereed to as, one of "Da Shedmen". It is meant to make fun of us but it really doesn't bother any of the boys because were doing it to have some fun and get drunk.
