The Battle Against Economic Recession and Terrorism

The Battle Against Economic Recession and Terrorism.
The morning of September 11, 2001, seemed like any other morning as Americans were diligently going through the same old routine of trying to get to work and after a long, exhausting day return to their homes . Some did not make it back to the safe haven of their homes because four commercial jets were hijacked and two of those aircraft were flown into the World Trade Towers, leveling the once mighty skyscrapers that stood tall above New York City. After the smoke slowly dwindled away, thousands of Americans were dead, thousands were missing, and The United States was in a state of shock, but what still lingered was the threat of another possible terrorist attack. Americans no longer felt safe as they sat with their families, thankful to be alive, huddled around a television set trying to comprehend what just had happened in the early morning hours of September 11th. Americans were turning to our political leaders in search of answers that would explain this terrible tragedy and reassurance that these attacks would not happen again. President Bush and his administration were faced with the most difficult challenge ever placed upon a presidential cabinet and that was determining what the first step would be in counteracting terrorist aggression against the United States of America and preventing such attacks from happening again. September 11th forever altered America.
President Bush took the oath of office in January of 2001 and inherited the strongest economy in history. Our strong economy took a hit after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, causing many New York businesses to collapse, which caused a general interference on nation-wide commerce and a significant increase in unemployment. President Bush applied $42 billion more in tax cuts to counter this negative effect on our economy. "At cabinet meetings the president was like a blind man in a room full of deaf people.
