Sep 11th Tragedy

I will never forget the tragedy of September 11th, and the world consequences of the terrorist attacks. I woke up that morning to the news broadcasting a Twin Tower being hit by a plane. On every channel you could see the shock on people's faces as they tried to make sense of the situation. It took hours before anyone could really confirm that it was a terrorist attack. I remember vaguely the President coming on television and announcing that it was a terrorist attack against the United States. The whole country was confused by what had just happened, never before had anyone dared to strike back against the United States. Americans except to win against any adversary, its classically American to think that your undefeatable. When the Twin Towers fell it shook the whole country with the reality that we are vulnerable to attacks on our own soil.
The night before the attacks, I had just flown in from California, I was teaching a Pre-Hospital Trauma class. The next morning my phone rang every few minutes, almost all of my relatives called to make sure that I was safe. I think that's when I started to think about all of the people who lost family members. I will forever be eternally grateful to have made it home safe the night before. .
It was amazing how the whole country pulled together to try to make a difference in someone's life. After the first day, the outpouring of support, financial and emotional was amazing. The whole country offered sympathy for the lost men and women who died that day. When the Twin Towers fell, the whole country sat glued to there television screens waiting for more news about what happened. I will never forget seeing the Twin Towers smoking and the mass confusion. September 11th is a day that will forever be remembered by everyone who watched and silently prayed that they would find a living soul in the ruble of the Towers. .
The news coverage of the whole event will forever be imprinted on my mind with sadness.
