President Bush Defends Usage of 9/11 footage for re-election

            The 2004 Presidential elections in the U.A are taking place at a time when the popularity and the credibility of President Bush is seriously being questioned by not only the democrats but by the American public as well.In order to gain back his popularity, President Bush has taken to using 9/11 footage as part of his re-election campaign.It has been argued that President Bush played a very big role in bringing the country through the worst attack in history and is therefore appropriate and relevant for him to point out as part of his record an is acceptable within limits.However, it is my contention that adopting this method would eventually backfire Mr.Bush if it were interpreted as cynical and exploitative and would seriously cast doubts on his ethical and moral principles. A variety of different arguments have been put forward about this issue.This essay will consider arguments as to why this footage should not be aired and point to some of the problems with these views.
             It has been argued by many that exploitation of such a tragedy for solely personal gains is despicable and unconscionable.This improvident behavior, so this argument goes, shows that the Bush administration lacks any decency and compassion.However, the footage helps us realize how the President faced and tackled one of the biggest challenges six months into his Presidency even though the way he might have gone about it may leave a lot to be questioned.
             Another argument against use of this footage would be the psychological havoc it could ignite.It's been nearly three years since that fateful day and for those who lost their near and dear ones; it has been a time of painful acceptance. Having to relive it would seriously affect the mental and emotional balance they have struggled to achieve.However, the screening of the 9/11 footage would help the public realize that terrorism is an evil which has not yet been eradicated and that those responsible will have to be brought to justice.
