Sociology- is the study of human society, including both social action and social .
Many people have different opinions about what sociology is. My idea of .
what sociology is the study of how people are in society and how they act or react to .
different groups and things in society. There are many different cultures and ideas .
about life in society unlike how it was many years ago. In the past many people .
believed in the same things, lived in the same culture, or tried to, and had .
the same ideas about life. But today, especially in the United States, because we are .
a nation of different nationalities, there are many different cultures and ideas. This .
isn't necessarily a bad thing. Even though in our nation we have a lot of crime, .
dieases, hatered, and other violent things it shows how strong our nation is by .
showing how strongwilled we are when things happen like September 11th. .
Sociology deals with norms, deviance, crime and other things that happen in our .
society which brings me to my next subject. Deviance is known as behavior that the .
members of a social group or society define as violating their norms. I chose this .
subject because I have recently found my self in this category. Men in our society .
are believed to be the strong, dominant gender. Men are taught from the youngest .
age not to cry, to be tough, to hold their head high, and basically not to show any .
emotion. But when a man is sensitive to something or not as tough they are seen to .
be deviant. They sometimes are steriotyped as a homosexual or gay(which i am not .
saying is a bad thing either). I have found this to be true. Also I have found myself .
to belong to this category because I am looked as deviant for being in the hospital .
for depression and being suicidal. In my opinion deviance is a horriable thing. .
Deviance is another word for hatered to me. Deviance has only caused me to loose .
friends, have people think of me different, and people steriotype me.
