Scarlet Letter Critique

The Scarlet Letter is a wonderful piece of literary work. It is a wonderful reading experience that held on to my interest through unanticipated events. The variety of characters in this novel helped construct a setting that would give a creepy feeling to any reader. The Scarlet Letter is wonderfully written and does not require any changes and meets all expectations by providing an incomparable window into the life of a Puritan sinner. Not enjoying this novel would be a sin in itself, perhaps requiring The Scarlet Letter for punishment.
The unforeseen plots and twists in this novel kept reader's interest and reading word for word. "After a brief pause, the physician turned away. But with what a wild look of wonder, joy, and horror!- (127) Chillingworth, husband of Hester Prynne had just discovered something on Dimmesdale's chest, the secret lover of Hester. What he had discovered on Dimmesdale was a sort of sign that proved that he was the one involved along with Hester's sin. " looking upward to the zenith, beheld there the appearance of an immense letter, the letter A, marked out in lines of dull red light."" (143) The appearance of an A shaped meteor was important to the story. It reminded Dimmesdale and informs the readers of his hidden sin. "'Why, know you not, cried the shipmaster, that this physician here Chillingworth, he calls himself is minded to try my cabin fare with you?'- (214) Hester along with the readers are shocked at the outcome during this story. Just as it seems that Hester and Dimmesdale are going to be off to Europe to start a new life away from the critical Puritans, they find out that Chillingworth was coming with them. .
The various types of characters in The Scarlet Letter help create a dim feeling to readers. "'Hast thou enticed me into a bond that will prove the ruin of my soul?'- (72) Hester was asking Chillingworth if he was the devil.
