Even if you aren't an athlete and your not familiar on the topic of supplements, you still have probably heard of creatine. Creatine is considered to be one of the most popular supplements for exercise enthusiasts, especially among football players. Creatine is thought to help in many athletes in there quest to gain weight and get more out of training. In a very competitive world of sports today, you can see why the supplement may be on the shopping list of many. The possible benefits and the research done have already proved to most that creatine is safe which also does not give an athlete an unfair advantage. Even though research has been done there are still many critics that are very skeptical about this particular supplement due to the rising number of athletes that use creatine in there diet ( Schwarzenegger, 764).
Research shows that creatine is an energy producing substance naturally manufactured by the liver, pancreas, and kidney from amino acids. Creatine can be consumed by eating many ordinary foods such as fish, poultry, and many different types of meats. Naturally a normal person may take in about one gram of creatine a day from such foods, which after consumed forms a compound that helps promote the production of ATP(aednosine triphosphate) the body's energy compound ( Schwarsenegger, 765). When using creatine it helps make more energy available to your body during extreme short-term workouts, or intense exercises, such as weight training and plyometrics done by most football players.
Another way to get creatine in you occurs naturally, with your body already producing the substance. It is present in human muscle and burned off at about 2 grams per day. For an athlete.
             2.
this may be burned off at a higher rate, which is where creatine supplementation comes into use ( Dobbins, 764). This also is where a controversy might be made. A skeptic may think it provides an unfair advantage to give that to your muscles, however like previously stated you can get creatine from your normal everyday foods.
