Our lives are changed and defined by the years we live during high school. We are changed from the people we are to the people we are going to be. It is the most defining part of our lives and by looking back on the past years, I can certainly see changes in myself and classmates as well. We find ourselves always looking at the difficulties of high school when we should realize these are the happiest and easiest times of our lives. Now I want to go through and show that, although similar, our lives have dramatically changed from freshmen year to senior year.
The first day of high school. We all remember it, so nervous and uncomfortable, a totally new environment. We walk into the school unsure of ourselves, not even sure where to go. Lots of new faces, new people, and new friends. An awakening to a new world of uncertainty. All this leading to your first year of high school. You learn a different way; teachers expect more, and the kids are more critical feeling like they have to be cool. It changes a lot of kids, and I'll even it admit that it changed me. Yeah I remember my freshmen year of high school, and to tell you the truth I didn't know what to expect. Of course I was nervous. You dealt with older kids who felt like they had to be bully's just to be cool. I never could understand the reason why. The thing that helped me the most was making varsity football. I earned respect and the friendship of most of the upper classmen. That really paved the way for my entire freshmen year. It helped me fit in and become a part of the whole high school thing. Although the classes were demanding because it was so different, I still felt I had a good freshmen year.
Now I have completed both my sophomore and junior years and have moved into my senior year. The Big Man On Campus, the head honcho. You find yourself now more comfortable with your surroundings, you know the people, you have many friends, and now the freshmen look up to you.
