Gentically modifed canola

Monsanto feels that Schmeiser is endangering their patent and if they loose to Schmeiser that many others with infringe on the patent as well.
Schmeiser is facing some quite serious charges and fines for his actions though he feels that he should not have to take responsibility for set charges and fines as he feels that he was providing a service to farmers by fighting the farming corporation giant Monsanto and striving for farmers rights to save seed. He feels that Monsanto is infringing upon these rights by forcing farmers to sell their seed before the next growing season. He wants to see this patent deregulated.
The companies who where earlier listed to support Schmeiser, and were represented by the same legal representation, are companies that support organic farming. Organic farming is one of the most difficult and costly farming today. One seed of genetically modified canola found in a truckload of organic canola would render the whole field to be contaminated and could no longer be sold as organic. This would be detrimental to the farmer who was growing the organic canola as the cost involved in growing good quality organic crops is only justified by the price in that is paid for good quality organic crops. Seed could be contaminated by seed blowing off a passing by truck or from another field. The companies feel that Monsanto released the seed and now will not be able to control it and there for should have it's patent revoked.
Monsanto's claim is that Percy Schmeiser fraudulently planted Round-up Ready Canola on his field without purchasing it with the intent to harvest only the Round-up Ready Canola by spraying off the rest of the field with the intent to replant the seed next year. A judge ruled on this case and sided in favour of Monsanto. The case actually then went to the court of appeal and the judge ruled with Monsanto there as well. The trial has now moved to the issue not was Mr.
