             Decline of Qing Dynasty.
            
             There were many reasons that contributed to the decline of Qing Dynasty. One of the most important reasons that led to the decline of Qing Dynasty was the Opium war. This war began because British merchants began making a huge profits by growing opium in India and sell it to Chinese. Chinese government did not like that because Chinese people were not able to work and all they cared about is how to get more of this drug. So China asked British for the right on a free trade. When the British refused China declared war on them which was a huge loss.
             The second most important reason was The Taiping Rebellion which lasted from 1850 to 1864. It was probably the most devastating peasant revolt in history. This revolt started because people were living in misery. In this revolt people demanded some social reforms that Chinese leaders did not like. These reforms included land reform, community ownership of property and equality of women and men.
             The third reason why Qing Dynasty declined is because of Sino-Japanese War. This war started because of the Japanese pressure on China. In this war China lost tremendously and letting Japanese to take over Taiwan.
             Fourth reason was a Boxer uprising where a group of Chinese had formed a secret society "Righteous Harmonious Fists". Their goal was to drive out any "foreign devils" who were invading the land with un-Chinese ways. In 1900, the Boxers attacked foreigners across China. In response western powers and Japan organized a force which crushed the Boxers.
             My fifth reason is when the Boxer uprising failed the nationalism took over. Reformers wanted to strengthen China's government. By the early 1900 they introduced a constitutional monarchy and some reformers also called for a republic That is when Chinese spokesman introduced "Three Principles of the People".
