Hurricane Mitch

During the twentieth century, hurricane Mitch became known as one of the most deadly hurricanes to hit the Atlantic coast. Hurricane Mitch came late in the hurricane season on October 20th 1998. Unorganized storm clusters becoming organized caused the severity of the tropical storm. There are a number of natural conditions that brought about hurricane Mitch that resulted in numerous disastrous effects.
There were a number of conditions that turned the storm into such a monster. Due to the warm weather during October in 1998, the oceans temperature was nearly 86 F. this warm water would quickly evaporate in the air supplying all the water vapor the storm would need. The bright sun would evaporate the water causing the water to lift. When the water-cooled and condensed, it gave the storm the energy it would need to rip apart the lives of those living in the Caribbean.
Another reason the storm grew out of control was because of a high pressure hovering over the evolving storm. This high pressure resulted in light winds at a maximum of 180 mph, and according to the chart B, the wind would continue at its maximum speed from 15 hours.
There are several effects that added to Hurricane Mitch's furry. As the storm moved west, there was a drop in the pressure at the center of the storm. According to chart b, hurricane Mitch became known as one of the highest pressured storms and would last for the longest period of time. On October 26, the hurricane reached category 5 intensity and would continue on its disastrous path for 33 hours. .
Hurricane Mitch was slowly moving west to the north coasts of Honduras and Nicaragua. Before the storm had even begun to enter the small islands, there were records of waves reaching as high as 50 feet. The torrential rain was enhanced as the mountains forced the air up. This amount of rain produced unpredictable amounts of flooding and the water would funnel down the narrow valleys.
