Teachers Losing Their Jobs: This Is Not Right.
This year Baltimore Public School System has a huge budget deficit and there is a strong possibility of teachers losing their jobs. One can think that cuts are the only way out, but I think that it will only make things worse. Teachers are very important to society, and without them, the future "children "will suffer. We cannot let the teachers go.
Teachers play a significant role in the lives of young people. They develop a bond with their students and become an important part of their worlds. Children see their teachers as friends, as people they can talk to about their problems. What if one day students walked into a classroom and learned that their teacher, their friend, had been laid off, lost his/her job, that they would probably not see this person again? Some would not even notice, but most would be shocked to hear that. They would be devastated to learn that one of the most influential people of their lives was gone. The anger inside of them would grow, and they would suffer psychologically. Such an episode in their lives would leave its mark forever. Do children deserve to go through this? I think not.
Teachers are the most important unit in the system of education. They are the major source of information for their students "the future of the world. They give one of the most important gifts in life. This gift is the light of knowledge. With the education their teachers give them, students have a chance to go further in their lives and accomplish amazing things. Therefore, teachers do something that is priceless, and society needs to value them greatly. Unfortunately, this does not happen. In Baltimore City there are not enough qualified teachers already. As a result, the quality of education is often lesser than that of other areas. The logical thing to do is to try to recruit more teachers. What do the people in charge of education do? They say they are in a financial hole and they need to fire some teachers.
