Napster

            Music is something that calms a person or gets them excited and motivated. Music is something that is heard everywhere for free. People make music because it is something that makes them feel good about themselves and also makes other people feel good. The idea of sharing music files on the computer is one of the biggest innovations to hit the computer. The creation of Napster changed the way the internet was used drastically. The creator of Napster is Shawn Fanning. He created this program while attending college. Shawn Fanning helped people listen to music for free instead of the people losing their money. Napster will always be the most widely known music program and it has inspired other internet users to make programs like it because they believe music should be free also. Free music on the internet makes people happy, it needs to continue to make people happy instead of making people unhappy by filing law suits for having free music.
             Instead of buying Compact Discs people now have access to MP3 players, but it is not inexpensive. For example, the Ipod by apple computers is a brilliant device that holds up to 10,000 songs (Ipod1). It seems like the individual who buys the Mp3 player gets what they pay for, but they do not. Apple came up with a deal online where downloading a song only costs a dollar, but the Ipod is a machine that holds 10,000 songs (itunes1). If the Ipod is filled to its maximum capacity that costs $10,000. Another alternative to listening to music off the Internet is having a Compact Disc burner on the computer. With this it makes listening to music a lot cheaper. The big difference between Compact Discs and MP3 players is that the Compact Discs have better advantages. Songs are not only cheaper to put on a Compact Discs but they also have the ability to be played on car stereos, home Compact Disc players and computers. .
             People look at having an Mp3 player as an advantage because all the songs are put into memory and it seems like a better idea to have every song in a device instead of many different Compact Discs, but it costs ten times more than buying a Compact Disc burner and blank Compact Discs.
